In a move that surprised many but was surely welcome by all, Major League Baseball has decided to move Opening Day ahead four days.
The opening game at Wrigley Field between the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs will instead be played tonight, with other teams joining the action on Thursday.
It might seem a little odd to pull this kind of thing off on short notice, and there are obvious complications with folks who held tickets to games now scrambling to juggle their schedules to be sure that they can still attend.
But at this point in Spring Training, all teams have settled on their final 25-man rosters, leaving this course of action not completely shocking.
How much extra are pitchers going to be stretched out with an extra four days?
